Frequently Asked Questions About Rhino Shield Coatings
General
Rhino Shield is a ceramic elastomeric coating. It looks just like house paint and you can also tint it to any color that you wish. Unlike paint, however, our coating dries 8-9 times thicker than latex paint and has many more benefits to offer.
Better ingredients make a better product. Our elastomeric, ceramic-based paints are environmentally friendly and reduce the need to frequently repaint your home. Rhino Shield products have been tested and proven to help provide water resistance, help prevent the growth of mold and mildew, and help reduce energy consumption in your home due to its high solar reflective index. Rhino Shield is also a breathable product allowing natural water vapors to escape thus preventing coating breakdown. And it comes with a 25-year warranty against cracking, chipping, or peeling.
No. Rhino Shield dealers are independently owned and operated by contractors with exclusive territories to market and install Rhino Shield. They are not agents, franchisees, or employees of Rhino Shield. While Rhino Shield dealers typically have excellent painting contractor credentials in their market, you should interview the prospective contractor and make your own decision as to their suitability for your project. Yes, Rhino Shield can be applied to vinyl siding depending upon the gauge. It is recommended you select a lighter color since very dark colors can possibly cause buckling or warping of the siding depending upon sun exposure.
No. Rhino Shield is designed to be applied to the exterior or interior of homes or buildings. Our industrial line of products may be used for more specialized applications but these structures need to be rigid and non-moving.

Cost & Warranty
All warranties are issued by independent Rhino Shield dealers. You will be issued an authorized Rhino Shield warranty by the local dealer upon job completion. There is a labor and a product aspect to each warranty. The policy regarding any labor required for a valid warranty claim is set by the local dealer independent of Rhino Shield. Any replacement product required for a valid warranty claim is provided by Rhino Shield as a product supplier via the local dealer or directly to the customer if necessary. Rhino Shield is not responsible for service labor.
Our Rhino Shield two-coat system carries a twenty-five-year warranty against cracking, chipping, and peeling. The warranty is issued by your local dealer and can be transferred to a subsequent owner if properly re-registered with that dealer.
Our independent testing results, particularly accelerated aging tests, have confirmed that Rhino Shield, when properly applied, will not crack, chip, or peel for up to 25 years.
Rhino Shield is typically more expensive than a traditional paint job. This is mostly due to Rhino Shield providing an 8 to 10 times thicker coating than paint and typically spending much more time on home preparation. However, by eliminating the repainting cycle, a customer actually saves considerable money over time.
All Rhino Shield applications are performed by our independent Dealer Network. Each installation will vary in price due to your home and business' particular needs including the amount of preparation required. To request a quote, please fill out and submit a quote request form here, and we will forward it to your local dealer.

Just contact your local Rhino Shield dealer. They will handle any questions you may have and initiate a service request should that be necessary. Our dealers pride themselves on attention to after-the-sale service.
Installation & Maintenance
To protect your Rhino Shield investment, it is recommended that you perform annual cleaning maintenance. This will not only keep your home looking beautiful but also help your Rhino Shield system remain free of harmful airborne dirt and microorganism growth. We recommend cleaning your walls annually to remove surface dirt and stains according to the maintenance instructions provided to you by your local dealer.
It is imperative that Rhino Shield be applied to acceptable condition wood. Your applicator will repair or patch wood if possible but never to the point where it will cause the system to fail over time. If it is determined any wood must be replaced, the problem areas needing replacement would be highlighted and you will be provided a quote for wood replacement as part of the estimation process.
Rhino Shield will naturally fill small stucco cracks (1/16" or smaller) using the two-step process. Larger cracks may require an application of a stucco patch prior to applying the Rhino Shield system. Once applied, Rhino Shield will help reduce future cracking due to the bonding properties of the adhesive primer and the ceramic finish.
